WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF FACIAL REJUVENATION ACUPUNCTURE? Also known as acupuncture face-lift, cosmetic acupuncture or simply facial acupuncture, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture (F.R.A.) works to tone facial muscles, tighten the skin and reduce wrinkles. With results situated in between those of cosmetic surgery and skin creams, F.R.A. treatments have preventive effects for those whose wrinkles are not yet very noticeable and curative effects on those with more visible lines.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM FACIAL REJUVENATION ACUPUNCTURE? Male, female, younger or older, if you are looking to improve your facial appearance and slow-down the signs of aging, you can benefit from facial acupuncture treatments. HOW DO THE NEEDLES WORK? A wrinkled facial zone is an area where toxins have gathered, impeding the spontaneous regeneration of cells. This cellular slowing is what causes the loss of tissue elasticity and spasmodic contractions of underlying muscles, and the resulting lack of movement is what causes wrinkles. By placing the fine acupuncture needles in these areas, skin cells are stimulated into exchanging with one another, thus encouraging cell regeneration. Other effects of needles in facial acupuncture can include: glandular rebalancing of overly dry or oily skin areas, reduction of sensitive skin irritation and general improvement of skin health. WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SESSION? A session lasts approximately 90 minutes. Treatment starts with a facial massage using a small « Chinese roller » which allows the skin to relax. Next, fine acupuncture needles are inserted and left in place 20 to 30 minutes. The treatment is then completed by a facial massage. IS TREATMENT PAINFUL? The sensation of the needle prick is negligible and even the most nervous people quickly find their fears unfounded. HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED AND HOW OFTEN? The number and frequency of treatments varies according to a person’s age and skin condition and should be discussed with the acupuncturist. For a person over 40 for example, we usually suggest a minimum of 6 to 10 consecutive weekly treatments, followed by maintenance sessions on a regular basis. WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU STOP THE TREATMENTS? Contrary to chemical or surgical interventions, facial acupuncture works naturally, so curative gains are always maintained. If you stop after a few sessions, you simply loose the cumulative preventative benefits of the full course of treatment. IS FACIAL REJUVENATION ACUPUNCTURE COMPATIBLE WITH COSMETIC SURGERY? Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is complementary to cosmetic facial surgery. By stimulating the glandular and circulatory functions, it prolongs the results that surgery can provide.
